I’m attending a press screening Wednesday night for A Quiet Place: Day One, so my review go up Thursday afternoon rather than the usual Thursday at 9 a.m. In the meantime, here’s a nearly two-minute behind-the-scenes featurette for all subscribers.
For upcoming review:
Danza Macabra Volume 3: The Spanish Gothic Collection
The ever-amazing Severin Films is set to release its third boxed set in the series, featuring the worldwide Blu-ray premieres of four Spanish horror classics: Miguel Madrid’s debut feature, Necrophagous; the omnibus film Cake of Blood, never previously available outside Spain; John Gilling’s Cross of the Devil; and Leon Klimovsky’s vampire masterwork Night of the Walking Dead. Per Severin, each film has been scanned from its original negative, and the set comes with more than eight hours of special features.
Also, not for an upcoming review but to keep you informed of new releases in the genre:
The Vourdalak
Adapted from a vampire novella predating Bram Stoker’s Dracula by more than half a century, director Adrien Beau’s film follows a French emissary attacked and abandoned in a remote countryside. He finds refuge at an eerie manor, where the resident family, behaving strangely, anticipates the return of its patriarch, Gorcha. Maybe make that “Gotcha!” After premiering in France last year, it hits U.S. theaters Friday.
