Director’s Cut opens with the familiar documentary-like notification that a Long Island rock band disappeared in spring 2024, and that “all names have been changed to protect the families of the deceased.” The punk/metal band Suicide Disease performs and make videos wearing creepy, DIY-looking white masks. The name alludes to trigeminal neuralgia, a chronic-pain disorder that affects the face and hurts so badly it drives sufferers to suicidal ideation ... hence its grim nickname. And it’s been ages since the band did a paid gig, let alone released a record. So, not in a good place.
